True Freedom

It’s such a beautiful Sunday morning. Welcome back friends. How are you doing and how was your week. Hope you had a great time.

Happy new month and Happy Independence Day to everyone of us who are Nigerians. Today is a special day. And I pray may we experience independence indeed and may God lead our leaders in the direction of progress and development for our nation.

Today, I want to discuss something about true freedom. I know it’s a concept that many of us (if not all of us) are quite familiar with.

Freedom is all about having the power or right to do what you want and when you want it, without anyone stopping you, as long as it doesn't hurt other people. It is also the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.

True freedom is when we have been totally or permanently free without any iota of doubt or skepticism.

In a day as this when our nation, Nigeria is celebrating freedom from her colonial masters, we must ask ourselves this question – are we truly free?

Nigeria as a nation has gone a long way, and we as a people in the country have been going through so many challenges. We, indeed, need true freedom for our nation and as a people.

True freedom comes first of all as a mindset. It first happens inside before it manifest outside. We must adopt the mindset of true freedom before we experience it. That means we must believe that we are indeed free from all forms of slavery and colonization, and let that affect our thoughts and actions.

We must now take responsibility for ourselves and our future. We should no longer play the blame game. The wisdom and ability that God has given us are enough to make us experience true freedom and come out of the perpetual challenges that we have been going through.

We must know who we are and walk in that knowledge. We must no longer allow anyone to call us slaves or victims of colonization (which could make us feel hopeless or helpless). We are people of dignity and power. And we have capacity to change our lives and bring turn around to our nation.

We have ability to pursue our dreams and make our visions come to reality. We can make plans for our future and set a new legacy for our children.

It’s all about our choices!

True freedom allows us to make choices and decide for ourselves what is good for us and our future. We can learn from our mistakes and grow in knowledge. We can chart our own path of greatness and prosperity. This, we will do, by the Grace of God and His wisdom in us.

I pray may we experience true freedom indeed and move forward in every area of our lives. God bless you and Happy Independence Day Nigeria!
