THE POWER OF VISION

  Good morning my dear friend, and happy palm sunday, let me start by telling you a familiar story. Once upon a time, in the great land of Egypt, the mighty Pharaoh had a strange and troubling dream. He saw seven fat cows being eaten by seven skinny ones, and seven healthy ears of grain swallowed by seven thin, scorched ones. No one could explain the meaning, until a wise Hebrew prisoner named Joseph was brought before him. Joseph told Pharaoh that the dream was a warning from God: there would be seven years of great abundance, followed by seven years of terrible famine. He advised Pharaoh to store food during the good years to survive the bad. Impressed by his wisdom, Pharaoh made Joseph governor over all Egypt. Just as the dream foretold, the land flourished, and Joseph gathered food in vast storehouses. SELF DISCOVERY AND PURPOSE

Happy new week, my dear friend. Let me begin with a story of a farmer, who once found a lost eagle chick and, not knowing how to return it to its nest, brought it home and raised it among his chickens. The eagle grew up believing it was a chicken pecking at grains, flapping its wings without ever flying, and living on the ground like the others. One day, a visitor noticed the majestic bird and was surprised to see it living such a lowly life. He told the farmer, “That’s not a chicken, it’s an eagle, born to soar.” Curious, he picked up the eagle and lifted it toward the sky, urging it to fly. But the eagle, conditioned by its surroundings, was afraid and jumped back down. The next day, the visitor took it to a mountain top, pointed to the sky and said, “You are an eagle. You were made for more.” As the eagle looked around, something stirred within, it stretched its wings, caught the wind, and finally took flight, realizing it was never meant to live like a chicken.
