SELF DISCOVERY AND PURPOSE
Happy new week, my dear friend. Let me begin with a story of a farmer, who once found a lost eagle chick and, not knowing how to return it to its nest, brought it home and raised it among his chickens. The eagle grew up believing it was a chicken pecking at grains, flapping its wings without ever flying, and living on the ground like the others. One day, a visitor noticed the majestic bird and was surprised to see it living such a lowly life. He told the farmer, “That’s not a chicken, it’s an eagle, born to soar.” Curious, he picked up the eagle and lifted it toward the sky, urging it to fly. But the eagle, conditioned by its surroundings, was afraid and jumped back down. The next day, the visitor took it to a mountain top, pointed to the sky and said, “You are an eagle. You were made for more.” As the eagle looked around, something stirred within, it stretched its wings, caught the wind, and finally took flight, realizing it was never meant to live like a chicken.
In life we need the conviction that God created us uniquely, for purpose. He even referenced it in his words "I have known thee before you were formed, right from your mother's womb" we have been predestined for greatness, and chosen to do exploits.
Finding purpose begins with the realisation that we were created for a purpose. You need to start by understanding yourself, questioning your perfection and imperfections, understanding what people feels about you, what you enjoy doing, and what people enjoy you doing. If these questions can be answered, then you're closer to finding purpose. Just like the story of the eagle, it was without purpose until the point of realisation, it lived like a chicken until it was discovered. We keep living the wrong life until the moment of realisation.
At realisation, we are still far from actualization, until we put in effort to truly find purpose. Just like it took the eagle multiple attempts to fly even after realisation, at some point it'll look like that's not the purpose, it'll be so difficult that we begin to doubt, but finding purpose comes with undiluted faith, perseverance, and persistence.
Purpose is not always something loud or magical, sometimes it starts as a quiet feeling inside of you, a gentle reminder that you are meant for more. You have to be bold enough to step out of your comfort zone, away from what people have said about you, and truly search within. Like the eagle, you may have grown up in the wrong environment, but that doesn't change who you are. The journey to purpose is a journey to finding your true self, realising your strength, stretching your wings, and choosing to fly.
In the end, purpose is not a place we arrive at, it is who we become along the way. The process is not always easy, there will be doubts, fears, and moments of failure. But those are part of the growth. The eagle didn’t fly at first, it took time, courage, and a little help. You also need to believe in yourself, push through the hard times, and keep your eyes on where you are going. You were not created to live like a chicken, there’s an eagle inside of you. Find your wings, and fly.
In all, finding purpose is a personal journey, but it starts with the decision to stop living like a chicken when you know deep down you’re an eagle. Don’t let your background, environment, or past define you. There’s greatness within you, and the world is waiting for you to rise. Start today, believe, discover, grow, and soar.
