5 Foods You Should Try this Christmas


Hiiiiiii friendsssssss, welcome back. It’s just few days to Christmas and I hope you are getting set. 

Today, let’s discuss food. Since it’s Christmas and we can’t miss out on the amazing foods that we should enjoy this year.

So, if you are thinking of preparing something or getting food for your family and friends this Christmas season, you can as well try these foods from different parts of the world.

They are common foods, but come in different forms. So, you can always try something new with them.   

1. Pounded Yam with Egusi


Where should we start if not from my place – the land of Africa where we have all the amazing foods you can ever think of. This food, pounded yam with Egusi is a 5-star food that will make your taste buds super excited. 

The pounded yam is made from a yam that is freshly boiled and pounded. And the Egusi soup is made from melon seeds with all the local ingredients including pepper, dry fish, goat meat, pomo, cow tripe, snail, vegetables, and locust beans. 

If you love draw soup like ogbono/okra, you can also add to it. You would have finished 5 wraps of pounded yam before you know what’s happening. lols!

2. Apple Pie


Apple pie is an American national dish. It is super delicious and easy to make. It is a pie crest filled with apples. Often served with whipped cream, ice cream, vanilla custard or cheddar cheese (for the lovers of cheese). 

To come out with unique taste, you can add any spices or ingredients you love - such as almond paste, raisins, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, clove, mace or nutmeg.

-Turkey crown with Roasted sweet potatoes

3. Pizza


When pizza is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is Italy, which is European. Even though pizza came from Europe, it is now eaten everywhere in the world. 

There are different types of pizza that you can try this Christmas season. If you’ve not, consider – Neapolitan pizza, pizza Margherita, pizza Capricciosa, pizza Al taglio, Pepperoni pizza, or Pineapple pizza. 


Any of these will give you a special taste that will make your Christmas worthwhile.

4. Sushi


Where are we going next? It’s Japan. All the way to Asia. Sushi is the number one food there, and it has now being adopted all over the world. 

Everyone wants to try sushi. If you’ve not tried it, this is a good time to do so. It has a unique taste with all the ingredients involved. 

You will get the sushi rolls (made of vinegared rice and seafood) on one side, and the soy sauce and Wasabi paste on the other.

There will also be sticks that will help you carry the rolls well and deep them inside the sauce. It’s such a hearty food. 

There are different types, but the common ones are nigiri sushi and maki sushi which comes in different rolls such as California roll, spicy tuna roll, Philly roll, rainbow roll, shrimp tempura roll, and spider roll.

-Kimchi
-Biryani
-Dim Sum
-Chinese chicken rice

5. Mushroom Jollof rice


If you are looking for something entirely new to try this Christmas, here is it. This food mushroom jollof rice is an improvised, advanced form of jollof rice. 

If you’ve tried jollof rice, you will want to try this. Get your mushroom sauced and garnish it inside the jollof rice as it’s about to be done. You can also add shrimps, dry fish, liver, and mix vegetables. You will surely enjoy the yumminess of all the ingredients and feel the home taste.
