10 Foods that Fight Diabetes

It’s October already! Happy new month, friends. May this month bring all that is good and fulfilling for you.

I’ve just been reflecting on how the year has been. And so many things to talk about. But I guess there would be time to discuss how the year has been.

Just on a lighter note, I want to discuss today 10 foods that fight diabetes.

I know this is not my area, because I’m not a professional. But based on my experience and what I’ve learned from people, I’ve found these foods to be good. And science also supports them.

So, just a reminder, you can consult food or health professionals when needed.

There are couple of foods that cause diabetes, usually those high in simple sugars. And there are also foods that fight it, usually those low in simple sugars but high in protein, fiber and healthy fats.

These compounds help to regulate blood glucose level and insulin secretion.

Here are those 10 foods.

1. Beans: Beans is rich in protein and fiber. It helps regulate blood glucose and fills the stomach easily. So, it helps in weight management. Taking it in moderation is key for those who love it.

2. Greek yogurt: It is low in sugar but high in protein and good bacteria that support body immune system and metabolism. It has been found to regulate glucose level in the blood.

3. Leafy vegetables: Such as kale, spinach, parsley, water cress and so on. These foods are rich in fiber and highly beneficial to regulating glucose level in the blood. They also help in managing body weight and reducing excess fat.

4. Oat meal: I take it most times and I’ve found it to be healthy in controlling blood glucose. It is rich in fiber and nutrients that support weight management. It also fills stomach easily and aids digestion.

5. Nuts: Nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, cashew nuts, etc) have been found to be healthy in controlling diabetes. They contain less sugar and more protein and fiber that control insulin secretion and make one feel less hungry.

6. Fatty fish: Fish such as salmon and mackerel are good sources of protein and healthy fats. They contain omega-3 fatty acids which has a lot of benefits in the body. The protein and healthy fats become alternative source of energy that regulates blood glucose and insulin secretion.

7. Berries: Especially raspberry and strawberry have been found to be highly beneficial in fighting diabetes. They regulate blood glucose and also have immune-enhancing effects.

8. Garlic: This is one ingredient that I hardly miss in my food. It’s so healthy and highly beneficial to fighting diabetes. Apart from regulating blood glucose, its pungent smell makes it effective in removing bad chemicals from the body and supports the immune system.

9. Onions: Onions are known to be rich in fiber and sulfuric compounds. They are important ingredient in food and many cuisines. They regulate blood glucose and insulin secretion. They also aid digestion, and promotes healthy body weight.

10. Natural herbs: Such as Rosemary, Oregano, Aloe Vera, Ginger, Turmeric, Cinnamon, and so on. These herbs are super healthy in the body. I use them a lot. They have both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that promote healthy immune system and fight against diabetes. They regulate blood glucose and insulin secretion.

In conclusion, there are several other foods that also fight diabetes. Egg white and whole grains are some of them. The main idea about these foods is to get those that contain less sugar and more protein and fiber.

Besides, water is also important. It has been found to help in controlling diabetes. It regulates body weight, dilutes excess glucose in the blood and promotes excretion of waste products.

So, it will be a good advice to drink a good amount of water everyday.

Meanwhile, I’ve recently re-registered at the gym where I was doing fitness before. I’ve made up my mind to go back and increase my physical activity and body fitness. I believe this will also help in fighting against diabetes.

So, I hope this article has been helpful. If you have any questions, please don’t forget to reach out to professionals and let them give you professional advice. I wish you more health and happiness in your life.
