The Fear of Death

Image
Hello friends, welcome back. Trust this past week has been good for you. Sometimes, things don’t go the way we planned. But having the opportunity to witness life and make changes might be more important than those changes themselves. So, let’s relax, do what we can, and leave the rest to God.  Today, I want to conclude on the discussion I’ve been having on different types of fear. So, I will discuss today the fear of death. The fear of death is a real one. First of all, let’s look at what death is and why we fear it? In a simple way, death is just one word – transition . Transition of what? Transition of our spirit from this side of life to the other side.  Life, as we know it, doesn’t end. But most people think when our body dies, it is we that die. But no! we don’t die. We only transit to the other side of eternity. And this is very important if we want to eliminate the fear of death. Let’s talk for a moment about the fear of death. The fear of death is the fear that is ass...

A Year Remembrance of Our Dear Mother - Felicia Abeke Abiona

Image
Exactly one year ago, God's friend, prayer warrior, a lover of God and His people, our dear mother and grandmother, passed on to glory.  Mama was a woman like no other. Her life was an inspiration to many. She was an epitome of love and prudence. And all that she did and stood for are what we are celebrating today.  Her daily calls, care, love, advice, giving, and all the sacrifices that she has made are testament to who she was and what she stood for. She was someone I knew would literally ask you about everything, I mean everything. And thank God for the life that she has lived. We’ll continue to celebrate the Grace of God in her life.   Continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ, where we will meet to part no more. Maa sunre o, mama wa! Here is a special song celebrating our mother: https://youtu.be/7rDzv4_y_3g

The Fear of Public Speaking

Image
Welcome back friends. It’s nice having to share our thoughts and ideas. And please feel free to let me know what you think about some of these topics I’ve been discussing.  For the past few weeks, I’ve been talking about different types of fear. The response has been great. And thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. Today, I want to discuss one of the most dreadful form of fear – the fear of public speaking. It is also known as glossophobia or stage fright .  A recent research showed that more than 60% of people in the world fear public speaking.  Perhaps, we could try to find out why. But most times, it is because people don't like the embarrassment associated with speaking in the public.  And when you are in the public and you have to speak, you'll mind every word you speak and how you speak it.  Public speaking involves engaging a large number of people which may be difficult for a lot of people to deal with. It also involves trying to be as eloquent a...

The Fear of Rejection

Image
Hello friends, welcome back! Hope your week has been wonderful. Today, I want to continue with the discussion on types of fear. I will focus on the fear of rejection. The fear of rejection is the fear we experience when we are being isolated, abandoned or rejected by people close to us for whatever reason. For me, just thinking about children who have no parents or who were being thrown out on the streets always touch my heart and make me shed tears. I imagine the level of fear of rejection such kids would have.  For some of them, if they would just find someone who will take care of them, and give them a good life, they would be so happy and never want to leave that person. They could have fear of losing that person or the opportunity they have. And they could also have fear of not being accepted by other people or their ideas or opinions being appreciated. Sometimes as adults, we also experience fear of rejection. Maybe we have an opinion or idea that is different from others, we...

The Fear of Failure

Image
Happy new month friends. Trust this month will be an amazing one for you.  We’ve been discussing different types of fear and today I want to discuss the fear of failure. The fear of failure is a common experience for many of us. From the time we were still young in primary schools to the time we graduated from higher institutions; the fear of failure was always on our mind. We don’t like to fail in our exams.  We also don’t like to fail at what people expected us to be good at. The fear of failure is associated with shame, embarrassment and ridicule we receive from people when we fail. Most people see failure as a very bad thing. And I’m not encouraging that we should deliberately fail.  But something very important that we must understand about life is that failure is inevitable . Whether we are the smartest person in the world, or we are the slowest person, failure has no respect for persons. Everyone, at certain point in time in life will surely experience some failure...
