Develop Your Talent

There were three people who were given talents. First was given 5 talents. Second was given 2 talents. And the third was given 1 talent. The first developed and used his talents, he got 5 extra, making 10 talents. The second did likewise, he got 2 extra, making 4 talents. The third went and buried his talent under the ground. When the master who gave them the talents came and asked them to give report. The first came and said "I’ve multiplied the talents you gave to me, now I have 10 talents", the master said "‘good servant’, well done, enter the glory of your father." The second gave the same report, "I’ve multiplied my talents and now I have 4 talents." The master told him too, "good servant, well done, enter the glory of your father." Then the third came and said to the master- "you are a wicked master, you just want me to work for you without any pay. I didn’t use the talent, I just went to bury it somewhere, now take back your talent." Then the master said, “Oh you wicked servant, what have you done?” “You just wasted my time and the value I gave to you. If I had known this is what you would do, I would have put it in the bank to have interests on it. But now, you just collected it without using or investing it. You are a waster.” That’s the third servant who refused to develop and use his talent. 

The first and second servants got more rewards, they were put as heads of governments in the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever is faithful in little is faithful in much. By principle, God knows that if you do well here on earth with what he has given you, you will do well there in heaven with what he will give you. There’s no need to be running after going to heaven. You don’t need to rush to heaven. Make your heaven here on earth. Bring heaven to the earth, don’t take earth to heaven. God brought us here to be a blessing to the earth. That’s a fundamental truth, whoever you are, notwithstanding. 

Now you may ask, "but I don’t have a talent, how do you want me to use what I don’t have?" Every one of us has got talent. The challenge may be with your understanding about talent. Talent here is not in the way many people have put it – something conspicuous that only you or few people can do without learning or training. But talent, in this case, is everything you’ve got to be a blessing to earth. That particular value you should add to the earth. That particular problem you should solve. That particular need you should meet. That’s your talent here. You don’t need to look for something outlandish or strange that nobody has never got. 

Of course, you are unique and different from other people. But the idea is you wouldn’t need to set your eyes on spectacular things that people see outside but on the virtues and values on the inside. Look, check, examine and scrutinize in your closed-door things that you’ve got on the inside. Can you pay attention to things that you have done in the past? Can you remember the comments people have given about something nice you did? Can you remember things that always draw your attention, annoy you, or set you ablaze to act or fight? I’m talking about your passions and actions. 

Things that you could do without anybody forcing, coercing, or even paying you to do it. Things that you know are always on your heart, they always drive you and make you act/behave in a certain way. You may need to pay attention to those things. These are things you love to do. Meanwhile, it could also be things that we are used to as talents such as music, arts, cooking, sports, profession, leadership, medicine, entertainments and so on. 

There are various sectors and ministries where every one of us can work without restriction by religion. What we have is to bless the world, and not just some groups of people. What we have is for the entire world. We are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. So don’t be restricted by any religion or belief system that could limit your impact or influence in the world. Go manifest your talent!
