THE POWER OF PERSISTENCE

Happy new week my dear friend, I'm so happy to write you again. Today's message is a very important one: persistence is one attribute every successful person can’t tell their story without. Every success story you hear is as a result of the power of persistence. I would have loved to tell my story, but I've mentioned it in numerous articles in the past, and I won’t want to bore you with it today. Instead, I’ll just mention a few names that we may be familiar with, to refresh our memories before delving into the message.

Recently, I read some new stories about the famous boxer, Muhammad Ali. I learned about his transition from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali, how he faced and fought through racism, and most importantly, the many successes he recorded in the face of these challenges, none of which would have been possible without persistence. Also, the story of Thomas Edison comes to mind. His teacher referred to him as ADDLED (confused or mentally slow) and even sent a letter to his mother stating, “Thomas is too stupid to learn.” I learned about the actions his mother took, she never gave up on her son. Instead, she began to teach him at home, persistent in making him fruitful. Thomas grew with a level of persistence second to none, and this sacrifice led to some of the greatest inventions in human history. At some point, when he was asked about the success of one of his inventions after 10,000 trials, he replied, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Persistence, from these stories, has proven to be a matter of the mind; it’s a willful attribute.

Everyone has a story, but persistence is what differentiates the ending of each story. There’s a popular saying that “we cannot feel the same pain, the same way,” but the truth is that the pain isn’t about the infliction, it’s about reception. How prepared we are, how we react to happenings around us, these are the factors that determine how well we’ll be able to hold on in the face of challenges. Persistence comes with the understanding that whatever situation you’re going through, whatever battle you’re fighting, or whatever journey you’re about to embark on, holding on to the conviction of non-negotiable success is key.

Persistence can be a direct or indirect sacrifice, just like what Thomas Edison’s mother did for him. As parents, we have this responsibility for our children; as leaders, we owe it to our followers; and as friends, we owe it to each other. Persistence is not just something you do for yourself, it’s an attribute that should be part of our lives, as it’s needed to live meaningfully, to inspire others, and to create legacies that outlive us. It is the invisible force that keeps dreams alive when the world seems determined to extinguish them. Without persistence, even the brightest ideas, the strongest talents, and the noblest intentions may fade away unnoticed. With it, ordinary people achieve extraordinary feats, and ordinary moments become turning points that shape history.

So, my dear friend, whatever goal you are chasing, whatever dream is keeping your heart awake at night, remember that persistence is your greatest ally. Embrace it in every step, every failure, every setback, and every small victory. Keep going when it feels unbearable, keep striving when the outcome is uncertain, and keep believing when doubt whispers louder than hope. The power of persistence is the power to transform, the power to endure, and ultimately, the power to triumph.

May this week remind you that persistence is not a one-time effort but a lifelong commitment to your vision, your purpose, and your destiny. Hold on, stay consistent, and let your persistence be louder than every challenge that stands before you. I wish you a productive and prosperous week. Do not forget to comment and share.

Quote of the week:

“Persistence is the twin sister of excellence. One is a matter of quality; the other, a matter of time.” — Marabel Morgan
