UNDERSTANDING THE VALUE OF RELATIONSHIPS
Happy new month my dear friend, this month we'll be talking about relationship with people. In life, no matter how successful, wealthy, or talented we may become, the true measure of our journey often lies in the quality of the relationships we build. Relationships are the bridges that connect us to opportunities, support systems, growth, and even healing.
Every genuine relationship is rooted in trust, respect, and empathy. When we take time to listen, understand, and walk in another’s shoes, we create bonds that go beyond transactions. They become investments in people. These investments often yield rewards that money or status cannot buy: loyalty, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.
The Scriptures give us powerful examples of this. Apostle Paul, once a persecutor, was feared and rejected after his transformation. Yet it was Barnabas who stood for him, even at great personal risk. That is the kind of friend we should all pray for, someone who does not abandon us when it is dangerous but stands boldly by our side.
Likewise, the story of David and Jonathan shows us how loyalty can make or break a bond. Their friendship was tested under King Saul’s shadow. It reminds us that loyalty and betrayal are some of the most defining factors in any relationship.
As Proverbs 18:1 teaches, isolation is not God’s design. If you fall, you need someone to pick you up. It is easier and better than standing alone.
It is easy in today’s fast-paced world to reduce connections to what we can gain from others. But true relationships are about giving as much as we receive. They require patience, communication, forgiveness, and the courage to stand by people even in their weakest moments.
We must also remember that not all relationships are meant to last forever. Some enter our lives to teach lessons, others to strengthen us, and a few to walk with us through every season. The wisdom lies in valuing each relationship for what it brings without taking any for granted.
At the end of the day, relationships are the wealth we leave behind. People may forget what we had, but they will never forget how we made them feel. When we understand the value of relationships, we live not just for ourselves but for the community of hearts around us.
