LIVING A LIFE OF IMPACT
In life, most people measure success by luxury, power, and material possessions. Owning the best houses, cars, and investments seems to be the ultimate goal for many. While these things are undeniably important, what truly matters is influence. What we do with our wealth, power, and opportunities. Living a meaningful life is what defines our best existence.
There are many factors that contribute to a fulfilling life, but above all, it is what we do for humanity that counts. The impact we make in the lives of others is what truly reflects our purpose. As Matthew 25:40 states, "Whatever you do for others, especially those in need, you are doing for me." God does not accept material gifts directly. Instead, He receives them through the kindness we show to those in need. Developing people, attending to their needs, using our talents to uplift others, and giving hope in any way we can. These are the acts that define a life well-lived.
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Anyone can be famous, but everyone can't be great. Greatness is determined by service." I have found this to be profoundly true. Not long ago, I attended the remembrance service of a friend’s husband. As people spoke about his life, no one mentioned his wealth, possessions, or titles. Instead, they recounted how he stayed connected with family despite being far away. How he always prioritized the safety of those around him, and how he ultimately lost his life standing up for an oppressed woman. He died defending someone who had no one else to protect her. His legacy was not in what he owned, but in the life he lived and the sacrifices he made. This brings us to a crucial question. What will people say about us when we are gone? Our legacy is shaped by our choices, our relationships, and the impact we make in the lives of others.
Take a moment to reflect on the life you’ve been living. Imagine writing an honest recommendation for yourself. Would you be proud of what you have done so far? If the answer is yes, then keep going and strive to do even better. But if you feel there is more you could do, be grateful. Because you still have the opportunity to change. The time to start living a life of true impact is now. At the end of the day, life isn’t measured by the wealth we accumulate but by the impact we leave behind. True fulfillment comes from how we use our resources, talents, and influence to make a difference in the lives of others. The best version of yourself isn’t found in material possessions but in the love, kindness, and service you extend to the world. So, as you journey through life, strive not just for success but for significance. Live in a way that, when your story is told, it speaks of a life well spent, one that truly made a difference.
