FINDING COMFORT IN DISTRESS

My Dear friend,

I am so delighted to write you again, I hope you're being the best version of yourself so far, and I believe 2025 is going to be a very special year. Today, I'll be talking about how to find comfort in distress.

Overtime, a lot of people have lost hope, time, and life, because they find it hard to manage life's crises, they panic too much when in distress, and they become too scared to face the gravity of reality. Many are times that people gives up on problems that they have solutions to, but the fear of these problems, blinds their eyes, and shuts their mind to the freedom at their fingertip. This year is going to be different,  we will find comfort in every of life's situations, because we are prepared, and ready to prevail over every obstacle.

As human beings we can't avoid challenges. A wise man once said "we cannot determine what happens to us, but we can determine how we react to them" this is the simple solution to our problems, if we have the capacity to react to whatever challenges that life throws at us, why then should we not react in ways that'll comfort us?!  There are little steps that will effectively help you find comfort in distress:
   1. Accept the Result: Accept that whatever happened has happened,  don't start wishing it didn't happen, accept the mistake, failure, disappointment,  setback, or whatever it may be. This is the first step to find comfort
  2. Seek perspective and connect with support system: Remind yourself that tough times are often temporary. Reflect on past challenges you've overcome and the growth that came from them. Talk to a trusted friend, family member, or mentor. Sharing your feelings can provide relief and insight.
  3. Practice Gratitude and engage in soothing activities: Focus on what is still good in your life, even amidst difficulty. Gratitude can shift your perspective and bring a sense of calm. Meditate, pray, or engage in activities like reading, movies, or walking in nature. These activities will engage you and provide a sense of serenity.
   4. Focus on what you can control, and be kind to yourself: Redirect energy toward aspects of the situation you can influence, no matter how small. This can empower you and reduce feelings of helplessness. Practice self-compassion. Treat yourself with the same care and understanding you would offer a loved one.
   5. Visualize hope: Imagine a future where the distress has passed. This can provide motivation and remind you that brighter days are ahead. Remember what faith is; the substance of things hoped for, and evidence of things not seen.

There will be difficult times, we can't but experience a few of them. It is important that we are prepared for the year, understanding how to navigate these times, finding comfort, even in distress. May God give us comfort, and answer all our silent prayers.

Thank you for reading, do not forget to share with your family and friends.

God bless.
