How To Start A Business With Little Or No Money

In the past few weeks, we’ve been talking about money, and I hope they are making some sense to you. Starting a business is not difficult. But it should be something that you are interested in. And while business is not only about making money, money cannot be excluded from it. If you want to start a business, how do you start without money?

First of all, a business is something we do to solve problems for people and make money from it. Let’s look at all the businesses we have around us. They are all solving problems. Whether it’s a big or small business. 

Amazon, for example, being the largest online retail business in the world is solving problems for people. People can order anything online at the comfort of their homes, and have them delivered to their doorsteps. Tech and communication companies are also making money from solving problems for people.

Let’s go local and look at our surroundings. Someone who is selling food is solving problem for people. Someone who is selling clothes is also solving problem. People who are offering transport, making hair, designing clothes, repairing electronics, doing graphic designs, making nice videos and photos and so on, are also solving problems.

There are thousands and thousands of businesses that are there in this world. So, one thing that we’ve seen with any business is solving problem.

What do you do when you don’t have money and you want to start a business? First, is to look at any other thing you have other than money that can make you money. I mentioned them briefly in the last article. If you have contact, you can make money. If you have ideas, you can make money. If you have knowledge, skills, or even physical energy, you can make money.

Now, let's discuss further. There are some businesses that you don't need money to start. For instance, to be an intermediary or middle man in a business deal doesn’t need money. If you know the buyer and you know the seller, you can connect the two and take your commission. That is the whole idea of affiliate marketing, drop-shipping, drop-servicing, wholesales and retailing business, and even money exchange business.

People buy and sell things every time. But your ability to know who wants to buy and who wants to sell goes a long way.

There’s a story of someone who made millions from connecting people. He had contacts of local farmers in his village who were vast in knowledge and experience about farming, and he also had contacts of educated people who want to start farming business but don’t know how to go about it.

This young man came along and decided to solve that problem. He reached out to those people (who wanted to start farming business but don’t know how) and told them he has some farmers who could help them to start their farming business.

He asked them to register on his platform and pay some amounts. They did and he connected them to the local farmers that he knew. He had already brought those farmers together and created a network of them that would be helping people who wanted to learn about different aspects of farming.

That was how this young man made millions without having any capital. And his business is still booming till today solving problems for people who want to do farming business.

Another example is someone who has a money exchange business. He knows those who want to send money home and those who want to receive money from home. So he connects the two of them and takes his commission. That is how his exchange business has now become a six-figure income business.

There are people who take goods from a company and go sell them and make their profits. There are also people who reach out to employers and employees, and connect them and take their commission. What about those who offer different services?

There are a lot of areas to explore about this middle-man business thing. And with the help of technology and internet today, a lot can be done.

If you know people, please don’t trivialize it. It can make you good money. And contacts are important when it comes to doing business.

Real estate is another booming area. If you know someone who has a real estate property, and you know someone who wants to buy, you can connect them and take your commission.

The main idea is to be consistent and have a stable customer/client base. You can take time to build your customer base before you launch out your business idea.

All in all, these are possible businesses you can do without money. And all you need is the willingness to start and the courage to reach out to people.
