Where Happiness Comes From

Different things make us happy.
We can be happy because we just bought a new house, car, shoes, clothes, electronics and so on. And we can also be happy because we just got married, or had a baby, or graduated from school or went on vacation or met with our old time friend, etc. Any of these and more could make us happy, at least for the moment. But where does happiness come from?

Happiness is more about what we do than what is done to us. It is about what we make happen than what happens to us. For some of us, if people do good to us, we are happy. But if they do otherwise, we are not happy. Yes, this could be a normal feeling. And it  could be natural. But it takes wisdom to understand that happiness essentially has nothing to do with what people do to us, but everything to do with what we do to people and ourselves.

When God created us, he puts all that we’ll need to enjoy life right inside of us. Happiness comes when we do what we love to do. What we love to do is engraved in our being. It's in our nature and design. When we do it, we function well and become happy.

An electric iron is happy ironing clothes because that's what it's created to do, not for boiling water or cooking food (because it has a hot surface). Likewise, fish is happy swimming inside water, and birds are happy flying in the sky. Because this is what they are meant to do. And doing it makes them happy.

Some of us are not doing what we suppose to do. In that case, we may not feel happy. In fact, we may feel  overwhelmed and tired. Because this is not what we are created to do. Sometimes it could be about our job, or it could be about our relationship.

When we do something that doesn’t connect to our being, we feel the negative effect in our life. And what can be the solution is to tune back to our nature. When we do what we love, or connect with people that we love, we will feel pleased. And happiness would only be the byproduct.

Happiness comes from doing what we are created to do, and that's what we love to do, and that's what can add value to humanity and bring us wealth and prosperity.

Be Blessed!
